What we collect
Less than you’d think. This site has no user accounts, no comment sections, no contact forms, and no email newsletter — we can’t collect what we never ask for. What we do use:
Analytics. We use Google Analytics (via Google Site Kit) to see which pages people visit, roughly where visitors are from, and what devices they use — aggregate patterns, not profiles. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy.
Cookies. Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish visits. Our server’s caching system (LiteSpeed) may set a technical cookie to serve pages faster. Neither is used to identify you personally by us.
Rental finder. When you use the What’s Near My OBX Rental? tool, the address you enter is sent to the U.S. Census Bureau’s geocoding service to estimate its location. OBXmaps does not store the address.
Embedded content
Our pages embed interactive maps from Google Maps and a live weather map from Windy.com. When you interact with an embed, that provider may collect data and set cookies under its own policy, the same as if you visited its site directly.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell or rent visitor data to anyone. We don’t run third-party advertising. We don’t build marketing profiles. Links to our own family of sites and to partners are disclosed as such on the page — see the ownership disclosure.
Your choices
You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, and Google offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics entirely. The site works fine either way.
Children
This site is a travel guide for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone — children included.
Changes
If our practices change, this page changes with them, with an updated date below.
